Domestic Violence Task Force Teams

Fnding from the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council through a Violence Against Women Act grant (VAWA W10-8-014) enables Four Points to coordinate five multi-disciplinary teams to improve response to violence against women in the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit. The program seeks to draw on the experience of all participants in the system, including the advocacy community. The grant provides for a paid, part-time coordinator for the Teams.

The grant is possible because every system partner in our judicial circuit (Walker, Dade, Catoosa and Chattooga Counties) signed on as an official partner for the grant. The partners are:

Each Sheriff’s Department

State Probation
Each City Police Department

State Pardons and Parole
Superior Court Judges

Dept. of Juvenile Justice

Each Family Connection
Magistrate Judges

Each 911/EMA Center

Thank you to each Partner!!!

Safety Audit/Fatality Review Team

The Safety Audit/Fatality Review Team has two objectives:  audit the system’s response to domestic violence victims and review domestic violence deaths in the circuit.  The Team utilizes several methods to look at our system to determine what gaps exist so that those gaps can be filled to provide the most effective services for victims.  The Team published its most recent report in January 2011 – The First 24 Hours in a Victim’s Life in the System – 2005 Case Analysis.   The Team is currently looking at the next steps for system audit and are in the process of reviewing a 2009 fatality. Elder Abuse Team

The Elder Abuse Team is responsible for developing community education activities to educate the public on the very real and growing problem of elder and disabled persons abuse.  The Team also seeks to provide training to our partners to educate them on the dynamics of elder abuse and to provide them resources to combat the issue.  The Team provided training called, Frequently Asked Questions for service providers in June 2011 at Georgia Northwestern Technical College.  The Northwest Georgia Senior Living Expo just wrapped up on September 22nd with information for seniors and the disabled on everything from legal issues to services available and entertainment.
