Supervised visitation provides a safe and neutral environment for a child to visit with a parent or other family member.

Sometimes supervision of visitation is necessary because of:

  • abuse toward the child by the visiting party — either physical, emotional or sexual
  • abuse toward the custodial party by the visiting party — either physical, emotional or sexual
  • lack of a bond between the child and the visiting party due to lack of contact, for whatever reason
  • alienation of the child from the visiting party by the custodial party

The majority of the visitation at Four Points is court ordered. However, parties can agree for visitation to occur at Four Points without an order. Once the decision is made for visits at Four Points, both the visiting party amd custodial party must call for an intake appointment. At intake, both parties give history regarding their family, read and go over the rules and guidelines for visitation and tour the facility. If the children are 2 years old or older, we ask that the children attend intake so that they can see where they will be visiting, and meet the staff.

Preferences regarding days and times are given by the parties at intake and then the staff determines the schedule based on those preferences, Four Points' schedule and supervision level.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long are visits? 2 hours

What can we do at visits? You can color, play board games, play outside, eat (as permitted), talk, etc. Sorry, no TV, computers or other electronic games that hinder interaction are allowed.

Can other people come to the visit? Visitors other than the visiting party must be pre-approved. We usually limit visitors to close family. We ask that the first few visits be the visiting party only so that the child and parent can bond. Special events like holiday visitation and birthdays are best for additional visitors. We reserve the right to exclude anyone not following rules as per court order.

Can I take the child somewhere else? No. Part of the process is that the environment be controlled.

What type of supervision levels are available?

There are four levels:

  • Severe: a staff member stays with the family at all times. Cost: $35.00 per visit.

  • Low: a staff member checks in on the family approximately every 30 minutes. Cost: $20.00 per visit.
  • Minimal: a staff member observes and supervises the exchange of the child between parents for off-site visitation. Cost: $15.00
